Mr Tim Wilton MA (Oxon) FRCS Eng.

Tim Wilton did his medical undergraduate training at Oxford and at UCH medical school. As a post-graduate he trained in orthopaedics at Nottingham University Hospital, Harlow Wood Orthopaedic Hospital, Derby Hospitals and the University Hospital of Wales, with early appointments at RNOH and UCH.

He undertook travelling fellowships in N America, Strasbourg, Bern and Ljubljana.

He has an entirely elective practice in lower limb arthroplasty and arthritis surgery and has specialised in Knee replacement and knee revision surgery for the last 20 years since appointment as a consultant in Derby in 1990. He has a lifetime experience of over 2500 hip and 3000 knee replacements.

He teaches widely on technical aspects of knee replacement and has been invited lecturer throughout the world and at the major European, North American and International Knee Surgery organisations. He has trained over 30 knee fellows in specialist knee surgery.

He was invited to be a founder member of the new European Knee Association which has been set up to coordinate and manage  knee replacement training courses within Europe in a focussed and non-commercial fashion.

He has served as an elected member of the BOA Council, Regional Advisor in T&O to the RCS England, and as Clinical Director of the large orthopaedic department in Derby where he has worked for 24 years. He has been on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (Br).

His research interests are mainly in Soft-tissue aspects of knee replacement, the technical aspects of knee replacement and the outcome of primary and revision total knees.  He was part of a team of international surgeons who designed the innovative Journey Knee replacement.

He is currently President  of the British Association for Surgery of the Knee, and has previously served as both Hon Secretary and Hon Treasurer of BASK.

Tim operates in Derby and at the Lister Hospital in London.
